A Floral Bardot | Spain OOTD

Jaide Poppy

Every year I get out the same bag of summer clothes and add a few new pieces into the group, just to spice it up a bit and don't know about you but Primark is an obvious place to hit up. Being cheap, stocks current on trend items and tbf, the quality isn't that bad for what you pay.

I really wish I could link my Primark clothes on here for you as I love this dress. The colours, the pattern and the fit is perfect. I wore this on an evening when my prickly heat was really bad and felt a bit self conscious. Comparison is a b***h and I'm a sucker and let myself do it often, maybe too often. Seeing all these beaut ladies on Insta in their bikinis with their perfect figures and perfect tans makes the pale English rose that I am feel kinda down. But having said this, this Bardot dress actually helped me to forget that around my chest and tops of my arms and enjoy the evening.

Jaide Poppy

I'm sorry to break this to you, but the white bag is super old and from good old Primark. The whole wicker bag trend is booming right now and there's my mum telling me to sort through my hoarding stash. I love it and keeps my camera, purse and phone safe and sound.

As you may already know I'm a huge Matalan convert and am pretty in love with their stuff right now. These shoes are one of my latest bargains. Tan, tie up and have that summer feel so I was one happy Jaide when I saw them for only £8! Like say what?!? I had my eyes on a pair incredibly similar from Marks & Spencer but never got round to buying them. But two days before I was supposed to jump on that plane I made a mad rush to Matalan, spotted them and had the biggest Cheshire Cat smile ever.

Of course my earrings are the Jewellery Box hoops that I AM OBSESSED WITH and they are in my ears most days.

Jaide Poppy

Every time I edit these holiday OOTD posts it makes me miss the holiday more and more. That chill life where you have no care or worries apart from when you'll next eat and drink. Isn't it just bliss? But hey ho here's to the next trip..... where shall I go? I'm thinking either Dublin or Amsterdam in the next couple of months. Vote in the comments!

As seen in press Matalan leaf print dress | Spain OOTD

By far my favourite outfit whilst I was away, and I'm pretty sure I don't even need to explain why.

Matalan for me has really transitioned from when I was around 16 and my mum would drag me round and I wouldn't find a thing. Now I go in there and have the ability to fill an entire trolly. They're on fire right now and this being one of my top picks from the holiday clothing they have currently have in store right. The fact this dress has been seen in the press might mean that it's going to be hard to nab so if you see it, get it!

Dress: Matalan
Bag: Whistles
Mules: Primark

Long, floaty and tropical, this dress makes for a perfect evening outfit when the weathers 'hot hot hot'. You know those outfits that make you feel good and you walk (maybe strut) around feeling great? Well, this was definitely one of those.

I just love everything about it. The print is right up my street as I'm a serious greenery lover with a jungle as a home so suited me to the ground. It was exactly what I wanted for an evening at an a la carte restaurant whilst on holiday, and as someone who gets burnt easily and suffers with prickly heat it was V nice to air the body if you know what I mean.

Perfect in every way this dress even matched my surroundings, and hair! Affordable on the purse strings and even great to wear at a family BBQ in the UK right now what with this heatwave! I couldn't big up this dress anymore than I have a already tried, but honestly this is a 10/10 from me.

Happy hump day babes

Dreamland launch on a beaut day in Margate | Lifestyle

The weather couldn't have been more perfect for the re-launch of Dreamland Margate. After having money pumped in and reopened last year (and I did a blog post here), the theme park has had even more funding to make it even more amazing. And I have to say, I was really taken back when I walked through the entrance as to how incredible this place had become.

Myself and Siobhan attended the evening as press and were kindly given drinks tokens, food tokens and a ride wristband for us to be able to experience everything on offer and share with you guys. Every now and again I had to remind myself that I was in Margate as I often found myself drift into a state that I find myself in when at a festival or abroad. The atmosphere was fun, safe and exciting with bright colours and performance artists everywhere. So here's a few pictures I took from the re-launch and defo go and watch Siobhans video

As well as the attractions and eye catching installations that were there last year, there were even more bright and fun things to see and do. Performance artists were greeting you at the entrance and moving around the park on micro scooters. It just added to the overall feel and helped the environment to remain buzzing.

Artist Tracey Emin turned the new Dreamland sign on and once inside the oldest surviving theme park in country, even more quirky signs and large letters were spread around the site which are all so Instagram worthy. We both found ourselves snapping every few steps and constantly stopping to get that gram candid shot.

Now on to a topic I'm super passionate about........food. In terms of free from and vegan food etc, there were two huts to actually advertise those diet requirements. All of the other foods I found to be fast food and meat orientated, like fish and chips, hot dogs etc. This next comment isn't just aimed at Dreamland but most places like this. Even though there's a boom in the healthy food industry and everyone and their mum has an allergy or has some sort of requirement, so you'd think there would be a wide range of different types of food in these places. I was happy to see one hut displaying what is classed as healthy food and then a candy floss hut which was freeform as you know, it's just sugar.

I had even more fun this time round in comparison to last year. Having visited this theme park since I was so young and spent hours going back and forth from the Skymaster to the Waltzers, it was fantastic to experience the park again. BTW local peeps, who remembers Skymaster? Loved that ride!

Something that Dreamland has brought in this time thats a new edition is the capacity to hold live music events. Bands such as The Gorillaz have already played there which was a sell out. I'm yet to experience this quality that Dreamland has, but it's something I'll definitely do when the right band is there.

Justauniform , Jaide Poppy and Peony Vintage

As the sun set on what was a day filled with laughter, drinks, being tapped by papers and interviewed by the BBC I felt so happy that somewhere like Dreamland had been given some TLC. This is exactly what it's needed and I urge you all to head down during the summer for a fun filled day or weekend away. Obv let me know if you go and holla at me on twitter or insta and we could meet up!

H&M monochrome dots and frills | Spain OOTD

When you scroll through pictures and get those holiday blues because you miss the sun so bad? Yeah that's been me for the past week now since coming back from Spain. For those of you who don't know I had a week staying at my friends house just to chill. Literally all we did was swim, chill, eat, drink Spanish gin and spent quality time together. I had one of the best weeks and am missing the sunshine and easy life so much, but am reliving the magic through my pictures and wanted to show you some of the outfits I wore whilst on holiday. Enter my go to summer dress that was cheap as chips!!

This dress is so easy to wear and to style. Its stretchy material makes for a super comfortable item thats perfect for hot weather, and great for both day and night. The slightly elasticated waist nips into the smallest part of your body so it's really flattering.

Dress: H&M
Mules: Primark
Bag: Whistles
Lipstick: Glo & Ray
Hoops: Jewellery Box

Although this isn't the most colourful outfit, I love a simple monochrome get up with a pop of colour in terms of the red lip and believe it can have as much impact as an in your face colourful outfit. Adding this little clutch bag was a great idea looking back as it looked great in the sun and helped to brighten the overall look up, instead of being flat and could of come across quite dull.

These mules are my first ever pair and I'm so in love with them. Primark, you did good as per! Not having to wear shoes in so that they don't hurt or blister you is amazing. I don't know about you, but I always buy a few news items for my holidays and never think about wearing things in. On the first night I popped these bad boys on, found them to be incredibly comfortable so wore them most nights. I went for grey because they didn't actually have my size in the powder blue (sad I know) but I know I'l wear these lots now I'm back in the UK.

If you follow me on Instagram you would of seen this dress on me when I attended the Dreamland re-launch, and it won't be the last time you see this either. Because the weather in the UK is pretty good right now (keep your fingers crossed) I will continue to bust this bad boy out and play around with different ways of styling. Maybe try out different lip colours, accessories and what not to give it different looks.

So that was outfit one from my Spain holiday. Another will be up on Friday and then a mini vlog, and what I ate will be up Sunday.

I'd love to know your thoughts on wearing monochrome on holiday. Lots of people I've spoken to actually say that they don't really take black or grey clothing with them on holiday, so I'm really interested to find out.

Muchos love

I did a 3 day juice cleanse with Little Pep | Food / Lifestyle

Whether you have IBD or not, a juice cleanse is a good idea. After suffering for a good month or so with symptom after symptom and looking around 6 months pregnant, I had had enough. I normally strip back my food intake and go minimal and plain with a large smoothie for breakfast or dinner, but this time I felt like I needed to do something a bit more intense and full on. Enter Little Pep

After a good friend recommended that I give this a go, I contacted Sherry at Little Pep straight away. I firstly wanted to see whether or not something like her 3 day cleanse could be completed even with my silly allergies to a lot of things. She was so accommodating and jiggled around some of her juices to suit me. For example, the ginger shot you have to take to start the day normally has a base of apple, so she swapped that for pineapple for me.

Day 1 - I collected my juices first thing in the morning and had a bit of a chat with Sherry where she went through the possible side affects, and also what to do and what not to do. Feeling pumped and ready to go I was more excited than anything. All of the juices tasted amazing (honestly they really did) and even the ginger shot was enjoyable and really does give you a kick.

Because I'm a late eater, I decided to move the times to an hour later than originally planned which I was given the ok to do. My juice times were as follows:

7am - 1 pint of water

10:50am - Ginger shot

11am - Juice 1

2pm - Juice 2

5pm - Juice 3

8pm - Juice 4

Day 2 - Pass The Parsnip was my favourite of all the juices with parsnip, honeydew melon, pineapple and more, I was in my element. Sherry had warned me that people struggle with day two but I think because I enjoyed the morning juice somuch, I looked forward to the day ahead.

In terms of side effects I definitely started to experience signs of fatigue and had an on-off headache. These are very common symptoms in people doing a juice cleanse so I wasn't too concerned.  I also started to get itchy feet at about 9pm as I have such a sweet tooth, so I made a camomile tea with a teaspoon of maple. And before anyone says anything it was on the sheet so I was allowed it (sticks tongue out like a child).

Day 3 - The last day of my cleanse was officially the start to my holiday. I struggled with a capital S for many reasons. The first two of the day of course tasted delicious, but by 5pm I had finished work and the excitement had kicked in. When I got home Tony had made a pizza to take for the journey and to eat at the hotel. The smell of dough and vegetables was just so intense and my gut was longing for it (of course I couldn't have eaten it because it had cheese on it) but it smelt amazing.

I thrive off limitations and challenging myself which is why I knew I could get through a 3 day juice cleanse. Even though I wanted a pizza I resisted temptation, and when everyone was celebrating the start of the holiday with a gin and tonic, I had a herbal tea.

The day after - In a way the juice cleanse continues for an extra day. You're advised to stick with raw food the day after, so things like fruit and salads. Cooked food straight after a cleanse like this can make your stomach really unhappy. I found this really easy as I had landed in Spain and was surrounded by fresh delicious fruits and veggies ('What I ate in Spain' vlog is going live on Sunday).

Overall I loved doing this. I did feel fresh, light and my stomach felt so calm compared to how it had been over the past few weeks. In a way, I find that liquid meals help my body and digestive system to restart. It was exactly what I needed before my holiday, as getting into a bikini with flare stomach isn't really what I wanted to rock.

If you ever come down to South Kent I urge you to head over to Sherry at Little Pep on Herne Bay Pier. She doesn't just offer excellent service with her juices, but also offers nutritious lunches, snacks and more.

I'd love to know whether or not you've done a juice or smoothie cleanse before, how you found it and also whether or not I've helped inspire you to give it a go and get those nutrients in.

Healthy RAW "Snickers cheesecake"

Scrolling through Pinterest and pinning all of the recipes that call themselves healthy versions of naughty treats is a huge past time of mine. I saw a recipe for a 'Healthy Snickers' and decided to give it a go and make some little adjustments to make it my own.

I'm not supposed to have dates, but I can have a few on a good day so this recipe was mostly created for my family and friends. More experimenting needs to happen for me to find a complete replacement for them so I can eat it all!

Ingredients and measurements:

Bottom layer
  • 150g dates
  • 150g pecans
  • 1 tsp maple syrup

"Cheese" layer

  • 300g soaked and drained cashews
  • 1/2 tin of reduced fat coconut milk
  • 2 tbsp maple syrup
  • 1 tbsp vanilla extract
  • 3 tbsp coconut oil
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice
Caramel sauce

  • 2 tbsp maple syrup
  • 2 tbsp coconut oil
  • 2 tbsp smooth peanut butter
  • 1 tbsp almond butter
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
Chocolate sauce

  • As much as I wanted *hides face

Toppings

  • 2 handfuls of almonds (chopped into small pieces)
  • 2 handfuls of hazelnuts (chopped into small pieces)

Step 1 |

Blitz up your base layer ingredients. I like to do it in bursts so that you still have some good sized chunks in the mix. I like a variety and more of a wide range of sized pieces of nut. In a lined brownie tray, push the mixture down with your hands and pop in the fridge to set. I put this in the freezer to set quicker!

Step 2 |

Stir up your caramel sauce ingredients together until all has combined. Make sure to give it a good mix to ensure no separation occurs as I found this to happen the first time I trialed this. Also, taste it and add some more maple if it's not sweet enough. Once done you can set it aside making sure to stir it every now and again until you use it.

Step 3 |

Throw all your "cheese" ingredients into your food processor and wiz until it's smooth as. I found this took quite a while as I hadn't soaked the cashews enough, and having lumps and bits in this section just isn't good. Again, depending on your taste this can be a bit too nutty, so maybe experimenting with some sweetner (whatever you normally like to use) to lighten the nutty taste. I personally love anything nutty so no additional things were put in for the one pictured.

* Pictured below is halfway through the blitz, and you can clearly see some lumps.

Step 4 |

Take the base out of the fridge or freezer and poor the "cheese" topping on top. I like to make mine as smooth and even as possible, and use my cake icing tool for that but as you can it doesn't go completely smooth.

The below pictures are showing the time when I didn't put it back in the fridge/freezer. this meant that the "cheese" topping

Step 5 |

Sprinkle any topping you want. You could go for some chocolate chunks or stick with nuts like what I did. I went for a mixture of almonds and hazelnuts because they're my fav, and the mix of the two is honestly a taste sensation.

To make it more "Snickers" kind of creation, I bought a bottle of some Sweet Freedom. You can of course you can make your own from scratch, but I saw this in the cupboard and thought I'd try it out. It's all natural and no horrible refined ingredients!

This is honestly one of the nicest deserts I've made, and got some great feedback from friends and family. I already have something to want to experiment further with, and that's the base. I want to make it thicker and crunchier so am going to try out a vegan shortbread base and see how that goes. Of course i'll let you guys know how it goes!

So, if you're trying to eat healthier or going to a dinner party and want to take something with you that's a healthier alternative, then this is a great recipe for you. It's of course going to be high in fat (good fats) because of all the nuts and nut butter used, but when it's split into servings per person it's fine. I know some people are really scared of eating too much fat but it's all about balance. Don't forget that.

Let me know what you think and whether you give it a go. I'm already excited to recreate this again this weekend for my sisters birthday, so make sure to follow me on Instagram to see my insta stories. Keep your recipe suggestions coming! More recipes are on the way for you!

Much love and have a fabulous week!

Candid seaside shot, goals and open mouth smiles | Life chit chat

Getting myself outside more is most definitely helping me in terms of how I'm feeling mentally. This year hasn't started off the best, so making myself go out and walk by myself or with family and friends is becoming a regular and positive thing.

Since I spoke recently about my IBD story on here, I feel I've lifted a huge weight off my shoulders and can speak to you guys more openly about what struggles I go through with my condition. I was struggling with Colitis and my health last year and changed career from January which has made me more aware of fitness and my activity. Having been a dance teacher for years and going to a desk job, I've now become one of those who is obsessed with my daily steps and my daily movement. I'm tracking mine at the moment with my iPhone but am thinking of investing in either an iWatch or a FitBit to get a more accurate amount. It's good for everyone to get out and move but for a bowel condition, it's incredibly important to be moving and active.

Moving on to more of a blog focused chit chat.

Making goals and lists of things I want to achieve and do with my blog has been something I've done for years, and have started thinking more about the small goals to achieve now rather than large ones in the future. Putting pressure on myself when setting future goals started to take over and I was becoming obsessed to achieving them sooner than when I set them for. So, I'm now starting to set small daily/weekly goals which will eventually lead to the big future ones. I guess I lost myself recently having gone through a tough few months for numerous reasons, I was longing for something to make me feel good and worthy. Instead of the good feeling of achieving and making myself feel good about me, it was putting me down more and actually having the reverse affect on me. But recently, I've realised that small goals can give us just as much of that fuzzy feeling as the large goals, and I need to make a constant effort to remember that.

One of my goals is to sort out my blog layout so get prepared for that but with that, I want to bring in an easy way of getting to all my different categories I cover on here. As I've said before, more food posts will be going up on here and have one for you this weekend (which is so delicious by the way) but also sharing my goals with you and what I've done to achieve them and the result I thought would be a great outlet for me, and great to share with you guys.

I guess in a way this post has been a bit all over the place, but feel I needed to have a chit chat with you to get things out. Tomorrows a big day for me as I'm doing a reading at my nans funeral and felt that everything else in my head was making me feel an actual pressure on me, as well as having to deal with that part of my life. So thank you for listening to me if you've got to this and I do really appreciate every single one of you that find yourself here and read my posts and comment sharing your thoughts.

Life is meant to challenge us, and if we didn't have those down times we wouldn't know what the up times are. Appreciate life, family, friends, health (and animals because if you didn't know I'm Dr Dolittle) and don't put too much pressure on yourself. Life is for living and not for worrying.

Love you all

xoxo

What's New In My Bathroom? | Beauty #Collab

I hold my hands up. I am obsessed with trying out new things and am always longing to find that perfect cleanser or that perfect hair serum. But when I think about it, I'll end up being happy to find said perfect product and sad at the same time because there's no need to continue the search. They reason why I say this is because with this bunch makes me happy!

Let's start by addressing that Superdrug do skincare, GOOD skincare which is cruelty free (what a bonus). I noticed the Superdrug skincare in something that Georgie put up ( I think on Instagram) and instantly wanted it all.

I've always been told to not break the bank when it comes to purchasing moisturiser, and these bad boys certainly keep my bank happy. There's not much to say about the day cream other than it soothes my skin and is pretty nice underneath my foundation/concealer. The black moisturiser is crazy, and actually black! I'm not sure how I managed it but I didn't know it was black until I opened it. The consistency is different to the day cream, feeling a bit more oil based. I've found myself getting a few whiteheads on my chin and my nose since using this, so am thinking I might have to start alternating when I use this as it may be too much for every night.

Both products do moisturise my skin and make my skin feel really smooth and soft. That's what you want from a moisturiser right?

The lead up to summer you suddenly worry about your legs, well I do anyway. I'm not one to bare the legs, and my arms for that matter but theres nothing better than your skin feeling and smelling amazing. Hands down this is my favourite scent from The Body Shop that I've ever smelt and I can't stop using it. I've not had this range long and already am close to repurchasing all of it (monkey hiding face emoji).

I met the Natural World at Scarlett Londons event BlogConLDN and had a good chat with the representative who wowed me over. You can complete a hair quiz to ensure you go for the range that is perfect for your hair. Mine turned out to be the Chia Seed range and is a real beaut. The range is supposed to boost volume and strengthen hair and my hair is in need of both those things. It really does add volume and having tried this out for nearly a month now can tell that the quality of my hair in terms of strength has improved a hell of a lot. The price is amazing for the size of the product and offer more than just shampoo and conditioner. If I overload my hair with products it can get pretty greasy, especially if I use hair oils. The oil is lovely put had to use sparingly and just through mid to the ends because of this.

Overall the range is lovely, and also got the thumbs up from the boyf. Great value, smells amazing and adds volume. My perfect hair range.

Lastly, my love for Exuviance skincare is rapidly growing. I also met these guys at BlogConLDN and have been giving these two products a go since. Hands down from the first time I used both the cleanser and pads I noticed a difference in my skin. The products were gentle and didn't aggravate my face turning it into a red sore tomato. They both soothed my skin and nurtured it, leaving a super clean and happy face. Having skin that is combination and suffers with texture problems, I was advised to go for these products to help with those issues. Of course I still get break outs but overall, my skin has never looked as good, healthy and glowing thanks to these two products.

Guilt free raw dairy free fudge | Freeform snacks

I need the fridge and cupboards stocked with healthy snacks and treats as I'm totally and utterly a 'little and often' person. I'm not supposed to have three huge meals a day because of my Colitis so, I tend to just have one proper meal and lots of little things. Having bliss balls or healthy fudge there ready when you want something sweet is perfect, and this recipe is a personal favourite and wanted to share it with you all to enjoy.

To make raw, vegan, refined sugar free fudge you will need:

Coconut Oil - 1 cup

Vanilla Extract - 1 TBS
Peanut Butter - 1 cup
Cacao Powder - 1 TBS
Maple Syrup - 1 TBS

It's literally as easy as putting in all of the ingredients into a bowl and mixing them all together. A bit of a tip, either melt your coconut water a bit or keep it at room temperature over night the day before you want to make it.

The fact making these are so easy, means theres no excuse at all to reach for naughty fudge or chocolate bars. Of course you can experiment with various different ingredients and the measurements above are to my taste so, just give it a go and go with the flow.

When your delicious fudge mixture is all combined you need to line a tray or lunchbox with some cling film. This way it's so much easier to get it out once set. I like to pop the trays and lunch boxes in the freezer for 24 hours. I promise it's good enough to wait for.

Being frozen it basically melts in your mouth and I just prefer them straight out of the freezer. Let me know if you keep them in the fridge once cut up and whether or not they melt or not as I've not tried it yet.

Please let me know if you make this fudge! I can't stop making it and have a whole draw full of it, yummy snacks for a long time coming.

Remember to let me know if you have any recipe requests for me to do or create.

xoxo
